Epoch: Impressionism

Claude Monet was a Frech artist who was born in Paris and moved to the countryside at the age of 5 years. He grew up in the small city of Havre in Normandy. At a very early stage, Oscar Claude Monet started to develop a passion for painting and was supported by his father. He became an artist shortly after completing his painting studies from Paris.

Monet’s style was partly inspired by Edouard Manet. He created the painting “Impression Sunrise”, his first-ever exhibited painting at the height of the impressionistic epoch in 1874. He then continued to develop his painting skills and his style.

Claude Monet’s famous impressionist paintings are also available for sale at Gallery La Fayette. He created several artworks including Waterlillies and Japanese Bridge, San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk, Woman With Parasol, and LeBassin Aux Nympheas. All of which are available for sale at Gallery La Fayette.

Monet created his oil painting Impression Sunrise in the port of Le Havre, his home town, in 1872. His goal was to capture the natural-light moment. The artist rendered the misty harbor where the horizon disappeared and the water merged with the sky. All the objects—the buildings, ships with masts, fishermen’s boats—look indistinct and hazy. Even though this painting is not typical of Monet’s work, it played a vital role in the establishment of Impressionism.
